Hope is the first step in achieving something. When you
believe something is hopeless, how can you make it happen? One of the most
important devices I have used to break down the barriers that were set before
me is to hold onto hope. I made it through my struggles by having the faith
that there would be a way to accomplish that which appeared to be impossible and
being patient enough with myself to come up with a solution. There have been
times when hope has been more of a hindrance to me, however. When I was growing
up, I was warned against becoming too hopeful. The let down was the result of
setting my sights to high.
Still, this never discouraged me for too long. I had to
believe that things would work themselves out in one way or another. There was
never a dream I let go of, and as an adult, I’m still working on bringing many
of those dreams into fruition. Time can set in and bring about a lack of faith,
yet I manage to push through my frustrations, because having hope allows me to
see the best in what is going on around me. It makes me more determined and
more passionate about all that I create. It grows and expands when I imagine
all the possibilities for myself and those I love.
Hope encourages me to never let go of that spark inside
that tells me just to live, and to breathe all of my words into that living. It
lets me know that even when they are stuck inside, the words I hold within are
unlimited.
