It’s a slow week, and I’ve been thinking about the days ahead, anticipating what comes next. It would probably make more sense for me to just enjoy the moment and try not to rush time. That’s often the advice that I receive from others, however it’s not all that easy when you are looking forward to something. August has been my dream for the past five months, when I will be able to see my favourite band live again and meet new friends. I feel like this will be a very significant turning point in my life and I’m more than ready to embrace it. For now though, I have to write and plan and forge my way through the miles along the way and see what I happen to discover.
Reading is a great way for me to distract myself when I
have writer’s block and I’m thinking of searching for something new to read. I
started ‘The Angel’s Game’ by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and though some sections of it
are beautifully written and intriguing, I am finding it to be a little slow in
parts. I need to discover a book that fully captivates my imagination again,
because those are the best kind. They help to keep my mind fresh and sometimes
inspire me to try something different with my own writing. My next project is a
teen novel and I still love to read those (the Hunger Games series was so
amazing!!), so I may read a few more of those this summer.
I’m making a conscious effort to put more productive
hours into my day. That’s why I’m writing this blog, working on my writing
projects, and occasionally even taking out the paint brushes. It’s all about
expanding my mind and my creative space. Sometimes, you have to create your own
magic in the moment.
