A Few Reflections for Friday

The breeze feels so welcoming through my window, and today it helps me to relax and build up my energy. The weeks are passing by faster now and I feel as though I’m accomplishing at least a little bit more than usual.  I’ve picked up ‘The Angel’s Game’ by Carlos Ruiz Zafon again and the story is becoming more intriguing and I love the mystery behind it. I usually don’t read this kind of book, but I find a different style refreshing. The broader range of novels I explore, the more I learn about writing and hopefully improve my own. Editing my own work has become a little more of a challenge than I had anticipated that it would be. I have a lot to say in my novel and I need to find a way to keep the integral parts and cut out the unnecessary passages. It’s a process that requires small steps and a little bravery, but I am determined that in the end it will be worth it. I really want this book to be the best that it can be, so that my readers are able to walk away with the message I intended.

My next idea waits in the wings like a movie on pause. A part of me is anxious to be done with my current project and launch right into the next exciting story, but another part doesn’t yet know what will unfold next. When the time is right, I know the words will be revealed to me. There will always be a tale to tell, an important emotion that I long to get across. I look forward to what the next year has to show me so that I can share those insights with others.
