Happy Canada Day Weekend! I hope you all had a great
holiday. I was able to visit with a cousin who I hadn’t seen in a long time and
talk writing. I also connected with her husky dog, who is thirteen years old
and very sweet. She was very cute and didn’t want to leave my side. The other
dog, a large poodle named Annie, got up on her hind legs and played a few keys
on the piano for treats. It was really quite something! I had a family dinner
at my grandmother’s house and my aunt Ginni, who had seen one of my Five
Favourites for Friday blogs, was inspired to make ice cream sandwiches for our
dessert. She has made them for us before, but it had been awhile. I found them
to be even more delicious than the ones I had purchased at the store. She placed
chocolate sauce in the middle and whip cream on the top. I must admit I would
have gone back for seconds had I not been so full from the meal!
I’m in my home town of Springhill and it has been a hot
day, I was hoping for the rain and the thunder that I heard hit Halifax. Of
course I love the rain, as long as it doesn’t put me in a dismal mood, and I find
thunder to be quite exciting. I had a nice dinner at my Mom’s and sat around talking
to her afterwards. We didn’t have much energy because of the heat. It was really
nice to catch up with her though, as the next time I’ll see her will be next
month for the Hanson concert. I know she’s going just for me, but I’m anxious
to see what she thinks because it will be her first time seeing them.
I’ll be spending a few more days here before heading back
to the city. It’s a nice break in my summer before things pick back up again!
